Bookkeeping Cleanup

Messy books
don’t just sit there.
They compound.

Transactions get harder to remember.
Invoices go missing.
Payments get duplicated
Expenses end up in the wrong places.
Reports stop matching what actually happened.

What starts as a few transactions you mean to come back to turns into months of financials you can’t trust.

And eventually, you stop trusting your own numbers.

You don't know exactly what you made.

You're not sure what you owe.

You hesitate before spending, hiring, paying yourself, filing taxes, or making the next big move because you don't know whether the numbers in front of you are right.

The longer inaccurate books sit, the more expensive, time-consuming, and difficult they become to untangle.

You don’t need to know how to fix it.
That’s our job.

We go back through the mess, find what happened, fix what’s wrong, and rebuild your books into numbers you can rely on again.

How To Know If You Need A Bookkeeping Cleanup

Your books are months (or years) behind.

01

You’ve been meaning to catch up, but transactions keep piling up and you’re no longer sure where to start.

Balances look strange, reports don’t make sense, or you find yourself checking the bank account instead of relying on your books.

02

You don’t trust the numbers in QuickBooks.

Your bank or credit card balances don’t match QuickBooks, and you’re not sure what’s causing the difference.

03

Your accounts won’t reconcile.

Duplicate transactions, uncategorized activity, old unpaid invoices, strange balances, or transactions sitting where they clearly don’t belong.

04

You keep finding things that look wrong.

Tax time or a major decision is coming up — and your books aren’t ready.

05

You need accurate financials for taxes, financing, planning, selling the business, or simply understanding how the business is actually doing.

You inherited a bookkeeping mess.

Maybe you took over the books from another bookkeeper, an employee, a previous owner, or your past self — and you don’t know what’s correct anymore.

What’s Included In A Bookkeeping Cleanup

Review the books and find what’s wrong

We start by looking across your accounts, reports, balances, and transaction history to understand where the books broke down. That may mean missing activity, old or strange balances, unreconciled accounts, duplicate entries, or transactions that were handled incorrectly.

Reconcile bank and credit card accounts

We work through the statements period by period and compare them to what’s in QuickBooks. Missing transactions, duplicates, transfers, timing differences, and unexplained discrepancies are traced until the accounts agree with what actually happened.

Correct transactions and accounting treatment

Transactions that were categorized, duplicated, omitted, or recorded incorrectly are corrected. We also review things that need more judgment — like loans, owner activity, reimbursements, merchant fees, payroll activity, refunds, and transfers — so they land where they actually belong.

Clean up receivables, payables, and old balances

Old invoices, payments, credits, vendor bills, deposits, and balances that no longer make sense are reviewed and corrected so your books don’t continue carrying outdated or inaccurate amounts forward.

Fix the Balance Sheet and prior period errors

We investigate balances that shouldn’t be there, accounts that don’t tie out, and mistakes that have been rolling forward from earlier months or years. Necessary bookkeeping adjustments are made so the Balance Sheet reflects the business you actually have today.

See the real story behind your past numbers

Once the underlying books are corrected, we prepare and review your financial reports so you can finally see what those past months or years actually looked like — what the business earned, what it owed, where the money went, and how it was really performing.

Messy books can cost you real money — even when you don’t realize it.

DID YOU KNOW?

Your tax return, loan applications, and major business decisions all depend on the numbers in your books.

When those numbers are incomplete or inaccurate, you may miss deductions, pay more tax than necessary, look less profitable to a lender, or make decisions based on a version of your business that isn’t real.

Ignoring the books doesn’t protect you from any of it.
Every month you put them off adds more transactions to sort through, more history to reconstruct, and more chances for old mistakes to keep affecting the numbers you’re using today.

On top of that, if the IRS ever asks you to support the income or deductions on a return, you’ll need records that back those numbers up. When the books are disorganized, incomplete, or wrong, you may suddenly be trying to reconstruct years of financial activity under pressure.

That’s what LedgeGo is here to fix.
We go back through the books, figure out what happened, correct what’s wrong, and rebuild the financials so you know what you earned, what you owe, what you can trust, and where your business actually stands.
